I'm not an incomer...

Updated: Feb 9, 2019

Occasionally you come across a song that haunts your consciousness for a time. A little while ago the Folkus Gallery Band began preparing 'Ghosts' by Kris Drever of Lau.

"I'm not an incomer My parents were ghosts

Sir I was born here So where would I go?"

Meet someone who has moved into a new area, even some 20 years ago, and they will often say they are not regard as 'locals'.

More seriously, people who find themselves forced from their own land not only suffer from a sense they have lost their own roots but those around them then deny them the opportunity to feel any sense of belonging.

In a biblical sense we are all incomers:

"So God created human beings, making them to be like himself.

He created them male and female,"  Genesis 1:27

Maybe we need to remember that when we feel tempted to distance ourselves from those around us.
